CTET 2018 Syllabus in Hindi, CTET Eligibilty and Detailed Exam Pattern

  1. Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education once every year to screen eligible candidates for teaching Class I to Class VIII.

  3. It is a prominent examination in India and applies to all the schools of Central Government like NVS, KVS, central Tibetan Schools etc. and those that come under the administrative control of the Union Territories of India.
  4. Unaided private schools can also consider CTET for appointing teachers. Schools funded and owned by State Government and other local bodies conduct their own TET exams.
  5. However, if State TET is not conducted then CTET can also be considered for appointing the teachers.
  6. The examination is held in 20 different languages namely English, Hindi, Bangla, Assamese, Gujarati, Garo, Khasi, Kannada, Marathi, Mizo, Manipuri, Nepali, Punjabi, Oriya, Sanskrit, Telugu, Tibetan, Tamil and Urdu.

  8. The CTET Exam consists of two papers, Paper I and Paper II.  Applicants can either choose to give one of the two papers or can give both the papers. Applicants can also download CTET syllabus for paper1 and paper2 from this site.
Paper I: This paper shall be given by applicants who wish to teach from Class I to Class V. Paper II: This paper shall be given by applicants who wish to teach from Class VI to class VIII.

CTET  Eligibility Criteria

 The test is conducted in two phases I and II, each for selecting candidates for the post of teacher for Classes I-V and Classes VI-VII respectively. CTET syllabus for paper 1 and CTET syllabus for paper2 can be downloaded from here.

While Minimum Age prescribed for CTET is 18 years, there is NO Maximum age limit

Educational Qualification for  CTET Paper 1 (Classes I-V)

    • Candidate must have cleared Senior Secondary Examination or equivalent with at least 50% marks. (OR)
    • Candidate must have passed the Senior Secondary examination with at least 45% and should have cleared or appearing for the final examination of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, according to the NCTE Regulations 2002 (OR)
    • Candidates with Graduation and cleared or appearing in final examination for 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. (OR)
    • Candidates appearing for or passed the final year examination of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)

    Educational Qualification for CTET Paper 2  (Classes VI-VIII)

  • Candidates holding a Graduation Degree and cleared or appearing in final examination for 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. (OR)
  • Candidates holding B.Ed(Bachelor of education) or appearing for the final year of B.Ed along with a Graduation degree with at least 50% marks (OR)
  • Candidates must have obtained no less than 50% in Senior Secondary or its equivalent along with B.Ed(Bachelor of education) or appearing for the final year of B.Ed. (OR)
  • Must have obtained Senior Secondary or its equivalent exam with 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year examination of BSc.Ed/BA.Ed.
  • A candidate having a Graduation degree with 50% marks and has passed or appearing in B.Ed program of 1-year duration.

  Note: Mathematics and Science for Maths and Science teachers (Science Background students). Social Science is for Social Science teachers (Art Background students). For both the papers, the main focus is on Child Development & pedagogy and concept of education in general during schooling.
